April 21st
Happy Tuesday! Today I want to focus on Art. Mrs. Cherry has been an amazing teacher for you this year. She would love to display some art of yours on our school website, so if you've created anything you want to share, please send me a picture of it and tell a little bit about what it is. Then you will probably see it on the website within a couple of days! Check out what some other students have made...
https://sites.google.com/alpinedistrict.org/cve/art-show?authuser=0 Today's question... What is your favorite art medium? That means, how do you like to do art? Sculpting with clay; drawing with chalk, crayons, pencils, or markers; painting; performing (acting, singing, dancing, musical instruments); creating with paper (tear art, paper mâché, collage, origami); photography; poetry or other writing; or creating with other things (Legos, crafts, baking, etc)? I love all different kinds of art. I was in a performing group that dances and sings for a long time when I was younger, so I still love to do those. But I have always been very artistic. I mostly love drawing with colored pencils for creating my own artwork, but I also love poetry, scrapbooking, photography, baking, crafting, and making up silly songs. Did you know that I played the flute in 4th-6th grade? I also took piano lessons from the time I was 10-15 years old! I'm not very good at either one anymore, but I still love to play sometimes. Here's some chalk art that my daughter and I did recently... For Math, do the iReady Blue lesson "Practice: Recognize Shapes", or work on one of the lessons in your GoMath book listed on "Our Week at a Glance". For Art today, I would love it if you could color the 2021 page I have linked below. Do a really nice job, and keep it some place safe, it is for your art calendar! If you can't print it, feel free to create your own 2021 art however you want to on a normal size piece of paper in landscape format (wide, not tall). Just make sure the numbers are nice and big and easy to see. Here is an example of something you could do with markers, colored pencils, or crayons. Also, you can check out the ideas for art and music that Mrs. Cherry suggested below, or do any unfinished art you have in your Unfinished Work Folder. All of the activities should be approved by parents before beginning!

Today's Assignments:
1. Work toward Lexia goal (This is a priority! It is geared toward your specific needs!)
2. Work on Green iReady lessons (This is a priority! It is geared toward your specific needs!)
3. Answer the question of the day (This is a priority! It is really important to stay emotionally and socially connected with everyone.)
4. Have FUN!!! (This is a priority! Students need to feel safe and loved during this time of crisis and instability.)
5. iReady BLUE LESSON-Practice: Recognize Shapes. This is available all week, so if it's easier, you can do the GoMath lessons first. Look at the "Our Week at a Glance" tab (at the top of this page) on this site to find the pages for the GoMath lessons.
6. Read for 20 minutes-Wonders, Epic or Sora, etc. (This is important for making sure students are as ready as they can be for 3rd grade.)
7. Do Writing Skills Workbook, Unit 6.2 day 2. Final draft of Writing will not be accepted before Wednesday. You need to read the stories first to get the information you need for your writing.
8. Do 1 spelling game and 1 high frequency word (HFW) game on Spelling City. (These are less important, but help build the phonics skills students need to be fluent readers.)
9. Do Morning Workbook page 150. Number of the day is 150! (This is less important, but offers a good review to keep everything we've learned this year fresh.)
