May 4th
Learn, you must! Happy May the Fourth, Star Wars Day! I hope to see all of you today as you pick up your calendars AND A SURPRISE! (I really hope you like your surprise!) I will be at the school, by the front doors, to give out art calendars from 11am-noon. If you can't make it, I will bring them by your home later in the day. I will be recording more Harry Potter today, so look for chapter 7 coming soon to the CHALLENGE page!
This week in our reading we are talking about money. So, for our Zoom meeting this week, I want to have a show and tell where you can show any money you have from different countries, or any collections of money you have. I will be taking a video of mine to share during the meeting! I want to give you some time to gather your things, so I think I want to have our meeting on Thursday, 11:15-11:30ish, and 6:30-6:45ish. Not sure if we will need slightly more time to show different monies or collections. Let me know if that doesn't work for you.
Also, this week I will be gathering information about your grades and sharing it with you next Monday, a progress report of sorts for our online learning. I will let you know what your final grades will be, and give you the next week and a half to make up any work that you want to change your grades (I have to submit them by May 22nd). I will also have a sign up for one-on-one video conferences next week, in case you want to discuss anything with me. Keep doing your best! Don't forget that Learning Fair and Talent Show are coming up soon. You can take a picture of your science project or of something you've learned during our online learning time for the Learning Fair. Just get your pictures to me, by email or Dojo, by May 13th. For the Talent Show, you can submit photos or videos up to 30 seconds long to Mrs. Shanks by email ([email protected]) by May 15th. Today's question... If you had $100 to spend on something just for yourself (you can't buy anything for anyone else), what would you do with your money? I would probably buy a bunch of books and maybe some teaching resources. I love to read, and I REALLY love finding new and more fun things to do in the classroom (and online) in order to teach you what you need to know! This week in GoMath, we are doing 2 lessons, 2 tests, and then starting the online end-of-year diagnostic test with iReady on Friday. You need to complete the GoMath lessons and tests before you start the diagnostic, so it will not be available until Friday.
For writing this week, you will be creating a story about the adventures of a piece of money. Use your imagination! Have fun with it. I will post the writing pages here on Wednesday, but they are in the Writing Skills Workbook if you want to look at them before then. However, I will not accept writing assignments turned in before Wednesday. Please check in with me if you are struggling with anything! I am here to help! We only have 1 more week of school work, and I really want to make the best of the time we have. Please let me know how I'm doing, or if there is anything I can do to make things easier, smoother, better, happier, etc! I miss you all so much, and can't wait to see your faces! Love, Mrs. Cobabe |
