Now that we know this online format is going to be going for a bit, I want to make sure we have ways of connecting and checking in on emotional wellbeing. I know this has hit me harder than I anticipated, thinking of all the things we are "missing out" on. But I want to assure you that I am still fully invested in your success! Please let me know if there is ever anything I can do to help. During office hours (9-11am and 6-7pm) you will receive a reply almost immediately. Other times of day it will vary, but I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible. If you are experiencing technical problems that prevent you from being able to complete the online assignments, try to read and practice math facts, and just let me know what you did.
Our school counselor, Joe, has sent us a link to his Blog. He has some great stories and opportunities to discuss problems and feelings you might be having right now. Visit anytime! https://mrjoeswitt.blogspot.com/ He also has a website with resources and contact information. Please visit, especially if your student was seeing Joe prior to the closure. https://sites.google.com/alpinedistrict.org/jkcounseling/home Today's question... What is your favorite card game or board game? I love playing Phase 10 and SkipBo for card games, and my absolute favorite board game is Ticket to Ride. Phase 10 and Ticket to Ride are games I learned as an adult, but SkipBo is very special to me because my grandma taught me to play as a young girl. I still have the deck she taught me with! On Thursdays, we usually have Library with Mrs. Montgomery. She has given us access to Sora. It is similar to Epic, and has books available to read. Feel free to check it out with parent permission! 1. Go to https://soraapp.com 2. Choose Alpine School District as your school 3. Choose Cedar Valley Elementary from the dropdown box 4. Enter your 9 number (same as Lexia username and password) for username 5. Type your own last name as the password Parents, please look at this with your students. There are books of all types, some you may not want students accessing. If you choose to access Epic instead, visit the post from March 19th (now under the "Older Posts" tab) for easy access and instructions on how to set it up if you haven't already. Today's Assignments:
1. Read a story on Wonders 2. Do a lesson on iReady 3. Do 1 spelling game on Spelling City 4. Do 1 high frequency word game on Spelling City 5. Answer the question of the day 6. Check out Sora or Epic (with parent permission) 7. Look at Joe's websites 8. Work toward your Lexia goal 9. Have FUN!!! |
