MAY 1st!!!
I can't believe it's MAY! In some ways, it still feels like March! In others it feels like July! We are almost finished with our 2nd grade content, and we only have one more full week of instruction! I know it's been difficult and frustrating at times, but let's FINISH STRONG!!! Today at 10:30am, we have the opportunity to join a Disney themed online dance class given by Louis Van Amstel from Dancing with the Stars! Use this link to sign up for a live class! https://lablastfitness.com/free-lablast-live-classes/ There are other classes available Monday-Thursday as well, and the link allows you to sign up for those too!
Today's question... What has been the hardest thing for you to learn this year? I always struggle to figure out what is motivating for the class, and how to approach behavioral issues. I'm always looking for the balance between fun, rules, consequences, and work. It's hard to know how to help every student and also make the whole class happy. Hopefully I did a pretty good job of making sure we had fun, but learned, were safe, and were respectful to each other too! On Fridays we have Social Studies and Science. For Science, check out this video about why birds lay their eggs in spring. https://mysteryscience.com/mini-lessons/birds-spring?code=9852ef00e157e0925b037ce32f5d78b7 For Social Studies, please check out this website about how to cope with all this uncertainty and upheaval at this times in our lives. It has great parenting resources and great ideas for communicating with kids. https://copingskillsforkids.com/coping-with-coronavirus I really want to make sure I'm sharing quality resources that meet your needs. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you. Have a great weekend! Love, Mrs. Cobabe Today's Assignments:
1. Work toward Lexia goal (This is a priority! It is geared toward your specific needs!) 2. Work on Green iReady lessons (This is a priority! It is geared toward your specific needs!) 3. Answer the question of the day (This is a priority! It is really important to stay emotionally and socially connected with everyone.) 4. Have FUN!!! (This is a priority! Students need to feel safe and loved during this time of crisis and instability.) 5. GoMath lesson 11.10: Problem Solving Equal Shares, pages 545-549. Don't worry about doing lesson 11.9, you can do it as an extra practice if you want to. (This is important for making sure students are as ready as they can be for 3rd grade.) 6. Read for 20 minutes-Wonders, Epic or Sora, etc. (This is important for making sure students are as ready as they can be for 3rd grade.) 7. Do Writing Skills Workbook, Unit 6.3 day 5 and turn in weekly writing assignment by Monday. (This is important for making sure students are as ready as they can be for 3rd grade.) 8. Do 1 spelling game and 1 high frequency word (HFW) game on Spelling City. (These are less important, but help build the phonics skills students need to be fluent readers.) 9. Do Morning Workbook page 158. Number of the day is 158! (This is less important, but offers a good review to keep everything we've learned this year fresh.) 10. Watch the Mystery Science Video and visit the Coping Skills website (This is less important, but keeps student's scientific minds curious and thinking about the world in new ways, and helps students learn to cope with everything they are feeling and experiencing right now) |
