April 27th
Hi friends! I hope you had a great weekend. I did more projects at my house 😀😩We poured half the concrete for our patio!
My brain is happy, my body is not 😜 I hope you did something just for fun! For our Zoom meeting this week, I want to read the second part of chapter 6 in Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets. I have posted the first half on the CHALLENGE page/tab on this website. I am hoping for Wednesday at 11:15-11:30am and 6:30-6:45pm (I will read the same part at each meeting). Please let me know if this doesn't work for you. We may even have a surprise guest join us!
Next Monday, I want to give students their Art Calendar back. I am happy to drop them by your home, or arrange for a pick up time at the school. They will need to have it to finish up some of their artwork before Mother's Day! (Sorry to spoil the surprise) Please let me know what time works best for pickup on Monday, or if you prefer me to bring it to you. This week we are learning about teamwork, so I wanted to ask this: Today's question... Have you ever been on a team before? What was the easiest part, and what was the hardest part of being on a team? If you haven't ever been on a team, what team would you like to be on in the future? I have been on a few different teams...some you may not think of as a team. The first team was a High School Softball Team when I was in 10th grade. It was easy to play and practice, it was hard to get along with some of the girls I didn't know. Other teams I have been on are: a High School Marching Band, a performing group that sings and dances (Galena Street East), two different College Marching Bands, and 2 different school Teacher teams! The easiest part is doing what I like to do, or doing what I know how to do. The hardest parts of being on a team are making sure to do your part, and helping others do their part without hurting anyone's feelings. |
This week in Math, we are doing 2 lessons online with iReady (the blue boxes) and 3 in GoMath. If your student seems to struggle with the online lessons, you can do the GoMath pages first, then try the online lessons. Don't forget, they are not completely done until the quiz is finished in iReady lessons!
For writing this week, it is really important to read the stories first, before you write. They give ideas on how to be a good team member. I will post the writing pages here on Wednesday, but they are in the Writing Skills Workbook if you want to look at them before then. However, I will not accept writing assignments turned in before Wednesday.
Please check in with me if you are struggling with anything! I am here to help! We only have 2 more weeks of school work, and I really want to make the best of the time we have. Please let me know how I'm doing, or if there is anything I can do to make things easier, smoother, better, happier, etc!

Today's Assignments:
1. Work toward Lexia goal (This is a priority! It is geared toward your specific needs!)
2. Work on Green iReady lessons (This is a priority! It is geared toward your specific needs!)
3. Answer the question of the day (This is a priority! It is really important to stay emotionally and socially connected with everyone.)
4. Have FUN!!! (This is a priority! Students need to feel safe and loved during this time of crisis and instability.)
5. iReady BLUE LESSON-Divide Shapes Into Two, Three, or Four Equal Parts. This is available all week, so if it's easier, you can do the GoMath lessons first. Look at the "Our Week at a Glance" tab (at the top of this page) on this site to find the pages for the GoMath lessons.
6. Read for 20 minutes-Wonders, Epic or Sora, etc. (This is important for making sure students are as ready as they can be for 3rd grade.)
7. Do Writing Skills Workbook, Unit 6.3 day 1. Final draft of Writing will not be accepted before Wednesday. You need to read the stories first to get the ideas you need for your writing.
8. Do 1 spelling game and 1 high frequency word (HFW) game on Spelling City. (These are less important, but help build the phonics skills students need to be fluent readers.)
9. Do Morning Workbook page 154. Number of the day is 154! (This is less important, but offers a good review to keep everything we've learned this year fresh.)
