April 23rd
It was so good to see your faces yesterday! Thanks for sharing your favorite places and things at your houses, I loved seeing all the fun things! We found out that the last day on new instruction will be Tuesday May 12th. That only gives us 2 1/2 weeks! That doesn't mean that school is over, just NEW instruction. May 13-22 will be a time to catch up and finish what was already assigned, take tests, and get grades put in. We will also be starting some fun online activities for our end of year fun beginning May 18th and going through May 29th. I will give more information as plans get solidified, but here is a rough guideline to what is planned as of right now.
May 4th-Weekly Virtual Field Trips Begin (optional) May 12th-Last day of NEW assignments May 18th-Virtual Learning Fair (photos only) May 19th-Silly Face Contest (photos only) May 20th-Grade-Up Zoom (meet with teacher for next year!) May 21st-Talent Show (videos or photos) May 22nd-Teacher Scavenger Hunt, Grades Due May 25th-Memorial Day, no activities May 26th-Virtual Field Day May 27th-Virtual Dance Festival May 28th-Yearbook Distribution by PTA, Final Class Meeting May 29th-Flag Ceremony, Closing Parade I will share more details as things get closer, and may I remind you that this is a tentative schedule, nothing is certain yet. I just wanted to make sure that you knew that we are not done! We have so much left to do, and so much fun to have! Let's finish strong! In our Zoom meeting, I was asked to provide some learning challenges for those who are finding the coursework to be easy, so I will have a challenge tab that you can go to and explore some more learning opportunities. This is OPTIONAL! I hope they are the right balance of fun and difficulty. I will be putting links to Digital Breakout Puzzles, Math brain teasers, and some other fun things to stretch your brains! I will also be putting links to videos of me reading Harry Potter. I will be in the classroom today to get it, so look for videos as early as tomorrow! Today's question... We are getting so close to summer, I want to know, what are you most excited to do this summer? I am most excited to go swimming! I absolutely LOVE to swim, and I have really missed being able to go to the Legacy Center and play in the water. My answer from yesterday is: Breakout Boxes, playing games, telling jokes, and just having fun with YOU! That is what I loved the most about 2nd grade this year! Today for math, do GoMath lesson 11.4: Angles in Two-Dimensional Shapes on pages 521-524. I do NOT need pictures of your work. If you have already completed this lesson, do the assigned BLUE iReady lessons you haven't completed yet. On Thursdays we usually have Library with Mrs. Montgomery. We have a page full of our awesome staff members reading some pretty great books! Please check them out! Happy reading!
