April 20th
Hi friends! I hope you had a great weekend. I did more projects at my house 👍🏻 I hope you did something just for fun! For our Zoom meeting this week, I want to have a "Favorite Things" theme. Students can talk about and possibly show something that is their favorite: animal, hobby, place, TEACHER 😜. I am hoping for Wednesday at 11:15-11:30am and 6:30-6:45pm. Please let me know if this doesn't work for you. We may even have a surprise guest join us!
This week we are learning about different types of energy, so I wanted to ask this: Today's question... What food or activity gives you the most energy? (It can be excited energy, power to your muscles, or mental/emotional energy.) I get lots of excited energy when I get to work on projects I want to do. My brain is all fired up and just starts making lists of things to do and getting the rest of my body ready to get going! I think salads, pizza, and rootbeer give my body the most muscle energy...I always feel like I can do lots of things after I eat those, especially if I have them all together 😋. My brain gets the most mental and emotional energy from good music. I love listening to music to help me get in a good mood, or to help my brain sort through things and get organized. This week in Math, we are doing 2 lessons online with iReady (the blue boxes are back!) and 3 in GoMath. If your student seems to struggle with the online lessons, you can do the GoMath pages first, then try the online lessons. Don't forget, they are not completely done until the quiz is finished! For writing this week, it is really important to read the stories first, before you write. They give information about the different sources of energy we use to create the electricity we need to power our homes. I will post the writing pages here on Wednesday, but they are in the Writing Skills Workbook if you want to look at them before then. However, I will not accept writing assignments turned in before Wednesday. Please check in with me if you are struggling with anything! I am here to help! We only have 6 more weeks of school, and I really want to make the best of the time we have. Please let me know how I'm doing, or if there is anything I can do to make things easier, smoother, better, happier, etc! Today's Assignments:
1. Work toward Lexia goal (This is a priority! It is geared toward your specific needs!) 2. Work on Green iReady lessons (This is a priority! It is geared toward your specific needs!) 3. Answer the question of the day (This is a priority! It is really important to stay emotionally and socially connected with everyone.) 4. Have FUN!!! (This is a priority! Students need to feel safe and loved during this time of crisis and instability.) 5. iReady BLUE LESSON-Recognize and Draw Shapes. This is available all week, so if it's easier, you can do the GoMath lessons first. Look at the "Our Week at a Glance" tab (at the top of this page) on this site to find the pages for the GoMath lessons. 6. Read for 20 minutes-Wonders, Epic or Sora, etc. (This is important for making sure students are as ready as they can be for 3rd grade.) 7. Do Writing Skills Workbook, Unit 6.2 day 1. Final draft of Writing will not be accepted before Wednesday. You need to read the stories first to get the information you need for your writing. 8. Do 1 spelling game and 1 high frequency word (HFW) game on Spelling City. (These are less important, but help build the phonics skills students need to be fluent readers.) 9. Do Morning Workbook page 149. Number of the day is 149! (This is less important, but offers a good review to keep everything we've learned this year fresh.) |
