April 24th
I found another fun Digital Breakout Game. This one is about Two-Dimensional (2D) Shapes! Just what we've been learning about in Math! It's not timed, so you can solve at your own pace.
https://platform.breakoutedu.com/game/play/the-game-of-shapes-127522-GWI88VOLFW Today's question... How have you been taking care of Earth? We wrote about it last week, and this week we celebrated Earth Day, so what is one thing you have been doing to take care of the Earth? I have always been really good about recycling, but this year I've really tried to do more reusing and reducing. I try to buy bigger packages of things when I can, so there are fewer packaging materials to recycle or throw away. I also reuse a lot of things, old clothes, paper, plastic bags, cans, cardboard, and other things that I can turn into something useful or something fun. On Fridays we have Social Studies and Science. In honor of Earth Day this week, I'd like you to watch this video called "How Old is the Earth?" Even though Earth Day is not necessarily a "birthday party" for the Earth, I thought this was a fun video to make us think about how long the Earth has existed, and how we can make it so the Earth sees many more "birthdays". I hope you got a chance to do some of your ideas from your writing last week to take care of Earth for Earth Day...if not, it's never too late! Every day can be Earth Day! Also, don't forget to check out the other science (STEM and Programming) websites listed at the bottom of the page. https://mysteryscience.com/mini-lessons/old-earth?code=121decd750ced8adfcc5e9d2db92099d If you have finished all of your work, or if you just need something a bit more challenging, don't forget to check out our new CHALLENGE tab at the top of this page! I will be posting my recordings of Harry potter once I complete them, and there are Math puzzles, Science lessons/activities, and more Breakout Games there too. Have a great weekend! Love, Mrs. Cobabe Today's Assignments:
1. Work toward Lexia goal (This is a priority! It is geared toward your specific needs!) 2. Work on Green iReady lessons (This is a priority! It is geared toward your specific needs!) 3. Answer the question of the day (This is a priority! It is really important to stay emotionally and socially connected with everyone.) 4. Have FUN!!! (This is a priority! Students need to feel safe and loved during this time of crisis and instability.) 5. GoMath lesson 11.5: Sort Two-Dimensional Shapes, pages 526-528. Don't worry about doing page 525, you need blocks that you don't have. (This is important for making sure students are as ready as they can be for 3rd grade.) 6. Read for 20 minutes-Wonders, Epic or Sora, etc. (This is important for making sure students are as ready as they can be for 3rd grade.) 7. Do Writing Skills Workbook, Unit 6.2 day 5 and turn in weekly writing assignment by Monday. (This is important for making sure students are as ready as they can be for 3rd grade.) 8. Do 1 spelling game and 1 high frequency word (HFW) game on Spelling City. (These are less important, but help build the phonics skills students need to be fluent readers.) 9. Do Morning Workbook page 153. Number of the day is 153! (This is less important, but offers a good review to keep everything we've learned this year fresh.) 10. Watch the Mystery Science Video (This is less important, but keeps student's scientific minds curious and thinking about the world in new ways) |
